FutbolUpdate is committed to getting things right. When we make mistakes, and all publishers occasionally do, we correct them quickly, clearly, and transparently.

We do not silently edit articles, bury corrections, or ignore credible reader reports. This page explains how we handle errors, updates, and factual revisions across all content published on this site.

This policy works alongside our Fact-Checking Policy and Editorial Policy. To report an error, visit our Contact page or email support@futbolupdate.com.

Our Commitment to Transparency

Trust is earned through consistency, and nothing erodes reader trust faster than a publisher that quietly alters content without acknowledgement.

At FutbolUpdate, we believe in being open about our mistakes. When a correction is made to a published article, we note it clearly within the article itself, not just in a backend edit log that readers never see.

We distinguish between three types of post-publication changes, each handled differently:

  • Corrections — changes made to fix factual errors in a published article
  • Updates — additions or revisions made because new information has emerged after publication (for example, a transfer being confirmed after we reported it as unverified)
  • Clarifications — amendments made to improve the accuracy or clarity of a statement that was not strictly incorrect but was potentially misleading

How Corrections Are Handled

Minor Factual Errors

Minor errors — such as an incorrect shirt number, a mistyped date, or a player’s nationality listed incorrectly — are corrected immediately upon discovery. A correction note is added at the bottom of the article in the following format:

Correction (June 26, 2026): This article originally stated [incorrect information]. This has been corrected to [accurate information].

Significant Factual Errors

Where a more significant error is identified, one that materially affects the meaning, conclusion, or factual integrity of an article, the correction is noted both at the top and bottom of the article, so readers who do not reach the end of the piece are immediately aware.

The original incorrect text is replaced, and the correction note explains what was changed and why.

Structural or Editorial Errors

In rare cases where an article contains errors serious enough to undermine its core premise, we may unpublish the article entirely while a corrected version is prepared, redirect to an updated piece, or add a prominent editor’s note at the top of the article explaining the issue. We do not delete articles to hide errors without explanation.

How Updates Are Handled

Football news moves quickly. An article published on Monday morning may be partially outdated by Monday afternoon.

Where new developments materially change the information in a published article, we update the piece and add a note at the top or bottom in the following format:

Update (June 26, 2026): This article has been updated to reflect [description of new information].

The original publication date is retained on the article. Where we update an article significantly, we also note the date it was last updated. We do not change the publication date of an old article to make it appear newer than it is.

How Clarifications Are Handled

Where a statement was technically accurate but could reasonably have been misread, we may clarify the wording and add a note explaining the change.

Clarification notes follow the same format as corrections and are added to the bottom of the relevant article.

Response Timeframes

We aim to operate to the following timeframes once an error is identified or reported:

  • Minor errors identified internally — corrected within 24 hours
  • Reader-reported errors — reviewed within three business days; corrected within 24 hours of confirmation
  • Significant factual errors — prioritised for immediate correction regardless of when identified
  • Transfer updates — updated as soon as practicable after official confirmation

Reader Feedback Process

We actively welcome correction requests from our readers. Football fans often spot errors that our editorial team misses — an incorrect club record, a misattributed goal, a cap count that does not match official records. We take these reports seriously.

To submit a correction request, please contact us at support@futbolupdate.com with the following:

  • The URL of the article you believe contains an error
  • The specific claim or figure you believe is inaccurate
  • The source you are referencing (a link, official document, or named data provider)

We will acknowledge all credible correction requests and notify you of the outcome. Where we review a report and conclude no correction is necessary, we will explain our reasoning. We do not dismiss corrections without consideration.

What We Do Not Do

In the interest of full transparency, the following practices are explicitly prohibited at FutbolUpdate:

  • Silently editing articles without a correction or update note
  • Deleting articles to remove evidence of an error without explanation
  • Backdating articles or altering publication dates to misrepresent when content was written
  • Ignoring credible reader correction requests
  • Allowing commercial relationships to influence whether or how a correction is made
