As co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Canada will play all three group-stage matches on home soil, from Toronto’s BMO Field to Vancouver’s BC Place. The CanMNT will face the Asian flair of Qatar, the disciplined European challenge of Switzerland, and the winner of UEFA Playoff A (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Northern Ireland, or Wales).

This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to surpass their group-stage exit in 2022 and make history in front of home supporters. Will Alphonso Davies’ explosive pace and Jonathan David’s goals be enough to carry Canada into the knockout rounds?

The expanded 48-team World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, kicks off on June 11, 2026, at Mexico City’s iconic Estadio Azteca and concludes with the final on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.

Note: The tournament has not yet begun, so there are currently no results, scores, or completed matches. All group-stage standings remain level at zero. Below, you’ll find Canada’s confirmed group-stage schedule, followed by the current pre-competition group table. Knockout-stage fixtures will be determined once the group phase is complete.

2026 FIFA World Cup: Canada’s Potential Knockout Journey

The 2026 FIFA World Cup features an expanded format with 48 teams, where the top two from each of the 12 groups advance automatically, along with the eight best third-placed teams, to form a 32-team knockout stage.

The knockout bracket is predetermined, with third-placed teams allocated based on specific combinations of qualifying groups to avoid intra-group matchups early on.

By winning Group B, Canada would play five of their first six possible matches on home soil (Toronto and Vancouver) before potentially moving to U.S. venues for the final three rounds.

Round of 32 (July 2, 2026): vs 3rd place from Group E, F, G, I, or J, Canada would remain at BC Place in Vancouver for their first elimination match.

Finishing second in the group brings a significant change to the team’s travel logistics and potential opponents. Instead of staying in the “host” location for the initial knockout rounds, they will have to move from the primary Vancouver/Toronto hub to Los Angeles.

Round of 32 (June 28, 2026): vs Group A Runner-up (e.g., Mexico or South Korea), Canada would travel to  Los Angeles, CA, for their first elimination match.
