Host Nation — Playing on Home Soil for the First Time Since 1994

The USA co-hosts the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico — their first time hosting the men’s tournament since 1994. Led by Christian Pulisic and coached by Mauricio Pochettino, the USMNT aim to ride home-crowd energy deep into the tournament and beyond the Round of 16 for the first time since 2002.

GROUP D INFO

About Group D

USA are seeded first in Group D as the host nation, and will play all three group-stage matches on the West Coast. Their opponents are Türkiye (ranked in the top 30, experienced European contenders), Australia (2023 Women’s World Cup hosts who made the men’s semi-finals in 2006), and Paraguay (CONMEBOL qualifiers making their return to the tournament). The USA have the significant advantage of playing in front of home crowds — their opener against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles is expected to draw over 90,000 fans. Every game from the Quarterfinals onward is hosted in the United States, giving the USMNT a potential path to the Final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
