Only Their Second World Cup — Haiti Return After 52 Years

Haiti’s only previous World Cup appearance was in 1974 in West Germany, where they were eliminated in the group stage. Now, 52 years later, Les Grenadiers return to the biggest stage, having qualified through CONCACAF. Facing Brazil, Morocco and Scotland in Group C, Haiti will be fighting to make history and reach the Round of 32 for the first time.

GROUP C INFO

About Group C

Haiti are seeded fourth in Group C — one of the toughest draws of the entire tournament. They face Brazil (5-time world champions), Morocco (2022 semi-finalists), and Scotland (returning to the World Cup after 28 years). Haiti’s opener against Scotland at Gillette Stadium in Boston is their most realistic chance of a result — a famous win could set up an historic run. Their Matchday 2 clash against Brazil at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia will attract huge CONCACAF support, with the large Haitian-American community in the northeast USA expected to fill the stands. Haiti last played at a World Cup in 1974, when they famously scored the opening goal against Italy before losing 3–1. Qualification for this tournament, through the expanded CONCACAF process, is already a historic achievement for Caribbean football.
